Nine Nato troops killed in chopper crash in southern Afghanistan

London, Sep 21 (ANI): Nine Nato troops have died in a helicopter crash in southern Afghanistan early on Tuesday.

 

A Nato statement said there were no reports of enemy fire when the copter crashed and the cause was being investigated.

 

The Telegraph quoted military sources as saying that the dead were not British, but the nationality of the soldiers was not immediately known.

 

The deaths took the number killed in 2010 to at least 529, according to the iCasualties website which tallies deaths.

 

Until now, 2009 had been the deadliest year, when 521 foreign troops were killed.

 

The statement said the casualties had been transported to a coalition hospital for treatment. (ANI)
