Aussies 'spend more than 80pc of their waking hours consuming media'

Melbourne , Sun, 05 Sep 2010 ANI

Melbourne, Sept 5 (ANI): Australians spend more than 80 per cent of their waking hours consuming media, according to a new study.

A survey of more than 2300 people reveals that Australians spend 92.8 hours a week tweeting, surfing the Internet, watching TV, listening to music and playing video games.

The latest Nielsen Online Internet and Technology Report also shows that ownership of webcams, laptops and wireless internet has surged in the past year.

Nielsen senior research manager Lillian Zrim said the findings proved Australians thrived on staying connected.

"When you think about it, we consume media when we wake up in the morning and watch television as we have breakfast, when we work and then, when we go home, we relax with the television on," the Daily Telegraph quoted Zrim as saying. (ANI)
