Kuala Lumpur, Sept 3 (ANI): Coimbatore District Police Commissioner, Dr Sylendra Babu, has confirmed that the murder suspect arrested in Chennai on August 24 this year, is high-profile Malaysian fugitive Michael Soosai, who is sought in that country for a string of cheating cases, including faking his own death.
The Star quoted Dr Babu as saying, "Fingerprints taken from the suspect matched those of Soosai. He is now in custody and we are questioning him about his alleged involvement in several crimes.
"There is a possibility we will charge him with cheating and even with the murder of Malaysian N. Subramaniam in Tamil Nadu," he added. olice used hi-tech equipment to track him via his cell phone and arrested him on August 22. He was detained in a hotel, where he had assumed the name of G. Karuna Raj. The name was among those in the Interpol wanted list.
His Indian wife, Palli Pillamah, has also been detained for questioning.
Soosai is also wanted by Malaysian police in connection with several cheque forgery cases amounting to more than RM1million.
He escaped the country after faking his death at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital. or that, three men were charged and convicted in July.
