Rawalpindi, Sep 1 (ANI): A special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) judge has sentenced six terrorists to life imprisonment for planning to kill former president Pervez Musharraf by bombing the Presidency.

Seven other accused were acquitted. Police and other law enforcement agencies had raided a house in Dhok Kala Khan on June 6, 2008, and arrested 13 suspects and had also recovered three vehicles, laden with more than 900 kilogrammes of explosive material, from them.

Terrorists had planned to explode these vehicles at the Presidency and assassinate Musharraf, the Daily Times reports.

On Tuesday, in an in-camera hearing at Adiyala Jail, special judge Raja Ikhlaq Ahmed sentenced Intikhab Abbasi, Muhammad Kabir, Muhammad Abid, Muhammad Ishaq, Muhammad Zafar and Qamar Zaman to life imprisonment twice and fined them Rs 50,000 each. (ANI)
