Beijing, Aug 25 (ANI): Pakistan's Ambassador to China Masood Khan has expressed appreciation for China's timely aid to his country's flood-hit areas, and rejected criticism against Beijing's contribution to help victims.
"China was one of the first countries to respond to our relief needs when the worst floods in 81 years came. China moved with speed," the China daily quoted, him as saying.
"It is not fair for any country or person to make oblique references to China's relief assistance to Pakistan or to urge it to do more," he added.
China has increased its aid from 1.5 million dollars to 10 million dollars. Besides, it is also supplying Pakistan with tents, sludge cleaning and water purifying equipment, generators, blankets, food, bottled water, and medicines, Xinhua reports.
Commenting about the criticism on China's contribution, Khan claimed that both countries have strongest of relations and require no intercession to get in touch with each other at a time of need.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Director of China Institute of International Studies Rong Ying said China should not be weighed down by the amount, but by the capacity it is capable of offering.
"After all, a lot of Chinese ourselves are still living under the standard of a developing country," he added.
Khan also praised the Chinese people and companies for their generosity. (ANI)
