London, Aug 18 (ANI): The museums in the United Kingdom are the best place to lose wallets as almost half of them are returned to their owners, a recent experiment has found.
While people in London are the most honest, people from Birmingham are the most dishonest the experiment said.he researched concluded that almost half of wallets misplaced at cultural centres were sent to their owners.
The social experiment, carried out in five British cities, found that one-third of wallets dropped in shopping centres were also returned. But not a single wallet dropped in cafis or public transport was handed in.
Researchers dropped 100 wallets at various locations in London, Birmingham, Glasgow, Cardiff and Leeds, with each one containing 10 pounds cash, a photograph, receipts, stamps and contact details for their owners.
They found that one in every five wallets was handed back.
"Losing your wallet or having it stolen is a highly stressful experience and causes great inconvenience and worry," The Telegraph quoted Sarah Blaney, a card Fraud expert as saying.
"Card fraud remains a problem in the UK and identity theft is on the rise, so we urge people to take extra care of their belongings," she added. (ANI)
