Karachi, Aug 16(ANI): Sindh Home Minister Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza has said that 10 million flood victims in the province and neighbouring Balochistan would be shifted to Karachi and Hyderabad, if needed.
"The Sindh government had made arrangements for 2.5 million people from Swat who had been displaced during a military operation there," The Dawn quoted Dr. Mirza, as saying.
"This time the flood victims were the natives and owners of Sindh and if needed, the government would make arrangements for 10 million flood victims' stay in Karachi and Hyderabad," he added.
He further assured that the government would provide immediate relief arrangements to all flood survivors.
After causing havoc in the Khyber Pakhtunkhawa and Punjab provinces, the floods have now ravaged Sindh and Balochistan.
The situation was critical in Jacobabad, Jaffarabad and Dera Allah Yar as water from breaches in canals and protective embankments poured into the area.
According to reports, the deluge has entered the residential areas of Dera Allah Yar, prompting people to climb onto their rooftops.
The flood victims of Jacobabad, Thal, Kandhkot, Kashmore, Ghouspur and Karumpur are also camping in Dera Allah Yar. (ANI)
