London, Aug 15 (ANI): A Welsh Cabinet minister, who was asked to repay a 4.47 pound claim for dog food, has secretly clawed the cash back.
Welsh Secretary Mrs Gillan charged taxpayers for a 3.69 pound bag of Iams Senior Chicken meal "for older dogs" and two 39p cans of Cesar chicken and turkey meat.
She later claimed that it was 'mistakenly' put on her expenses form and paid it back again.
But the Tory MP for Chesham and Amersham has now perfectly legally exploited a loophole to recoup the exact cost of the pet food.
Gillan's spokesman confirmed she received 4.47 pounds back after the Legg committee told her she had overpaid.
"How this figure was reached is a matter for the committee," News of the World quoted the spokesman as saying.
Gillan, 58, was among hundreds of shamefaced MPs who rushed to hand back dodgy claims last year amid public fury over their abuse of taxpayer-funded expenses. (ANI)
