Nevada (US), Aug 12 (ANI): Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, sending early Krishna Janmashtami greetings to one billion Hindus of the world, has urged them to keep focus on "selfless service".
Zed, who is the President of Universal Society of Hinduism, in a release in Nevada (USA) today, wished that all prayers of devotees be answered on auspicious and joyous Krishna Janmashtami festival, which falls on September two this year, celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna (Krsna).
Rajan Zed pointed out that Lord Krishna directed in Bhagavad-Gita to do your work with the welfare of others always in mind as by devotion to selfless one attained the supreme goal of life.
Zed suggested fellow Hindus to realize the Self. Quoting Katha Upanishad, Zed said: When one realizes Self, there is nothing else to be known.
Janmashtami celebrations involve fasting, chanting, worship, and other rituals and major observances take place at midnight. Lord Krishna is the eighth avatar (incarnation) of Lord Vishnu and subject of major Hindu scriptures such as the Bhagavad-Gita (Song of the Lord) and Bhagavad-Purana.
Hinduism is the oldest and third largest religion of the world and moksha (liberation) is its ultimate goal. (ANI)
