London, July 26 (ANI): The Taliban has offered to exchange the body of a US navy man who according to them, was killed during an ambush two days ago, with insurgent prisoners.
The Guardian has quoted Abdul Wali, the head of the provincial governing council as saying that the Taliban had made the offer through intermediaries.
Afghan officials believe one of them was killed by the insurgents.
"Let's talk about the one who is still alive," Wali said that the insurgents told this to the local authorities, who replied by saying that they would have to talk to their superiors before making any deal.
Meanwhile, NATO has said that on Saturday night, the Afghan and coalition security forces have detained two suspected insurgents in a clearing operation in Logar.
Earlier, the US and NATO officials released a statement saying that the two sailors had left their compound in Kabul, in a vehicle on Friday afternoon but never returned. Vehicles and helicopters were dispatched to search for them, and NATO launched appeals on local radio stations offering 10,000 dollars reward for information leading to the return of either person.
