New York, July 23 (ANI): A flight attendant, Rodney Lorenzo mailed letters to top airline executives top airline executives threatening to unleash jihad on American Airlines after it fired him for hurling a coffee pot at a stewardess.
According to the New York Post, a prosecutor in Brooklyn federal court said that the letters had "Boom!!" written on the envelopes, and contained pages from an employee handbook showing how to access the cockpit.
"We do take seriously any type of threat to our people and the security of our company and aircraft," Airline spokesman Tim Smith said.
In the 2008 letters, he allegedly threatened to forward the information to Islamic groups, which would use it against the airline and its passengers.
Lorenzo was sacked for throwing the coffee pot and was later imprisoned for 41 days for threatening the stewardess.
The report states that when authorities matched the writing on the letters the executives got to those sent to the flight attendant, charges were filed in Brooklyn.
However, Lorenzo claimed that he threw the coffee pot because he was upset over a friend's attempted suicide and that he'd been aiming at a door but the stewardess was not hit.
Lorenzo was freed on 50,000 pounds bond posted by a man he described as his boyfriend. (ANI)
