Islamabad, July 22 (ANI): A top Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander and a close aide of the TTP's Swat chapter chief Mullah Fazlullah has reportedly surrendered before Pakistani security forces.
According to reports, Qari Sohail surrendered before security forces in Swat's Charbag tehsil.
Sohail was the incharge of the Taliban's FM-radio station during the TTP's parallel rule in the Swat Valley, The Daily Times reports.
During Taliban's rule in the Swat Valley, Mullah Fazlullah, who was dubbed as Radio Mullah, used to preach 'jihad' and give sermons on an illegal local FM radio channel.
The sermons were usually aired at night. Fazlullah used to announce the do's and don'ts for the people of the region. Names of violators of the Taliban's stern 'Islamic sharia' were also announced on the radio along with the punishment, which often included beheading. (ANI)
