Melbourne, July 12 (ANI): A teacher has claimed 400,000 dollars in damages for yelling at children.

Valissa Julietta Bauer said that she harmed her larynx and is therefore suing the government with 400,000 dollars in damages claiming that she was not given sufficient help.

Valissa said that she had to over use her voice in an attempt to control the pupils in her composite Year 6 and 7 class at Thabeban State School in Bundaberg, Queensland.

According to her claim filed in the Supreme Court in Brisbane, the class had 31 special needs children.

As a result of Valissa's duties during her employment with the school since May 2006 she developed an injury to her larynx, she said in her claim filed by Shine Lawyers.

She claimed that she now has a permanent disability of her larynx and has lost considerable income.

The teacher is suing the school over giving her the charge of the composite class without providing her with adequate classroom assistance.

Valissa's claim is for almost 420,009 dollars in damages for personal injury as a result of alleged negligence, breach of contract or statutory duties, reports The Herald Sun.

It includes the amounts of general damages, past economic loss, future impairment of her earning capacity to age 65 and medical expenses. (ANI)
