Al Qaeda thug Shukrijumah continues to frustrate US authorities

New York , Thu, 08 Jul 2010 ANI

New York, July 8 (ANI): Thirty-four-year-old Adnan Shukrijumah, a slight and asthmatic former Brooklynite, continues to be a cause of frustration for American authorities, seven years after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) first put out word for his arrest.

Linked to at least four terror plots in New York, Shukrijumah has a five million dollar bounty on his head and is considered among Al Qaeda's best and brightest.

His profile is higher than ever after CIA drone strikes killed veteran Al Qaeda operatives Saleh al-Somali and Rashid Rauf, the New York Daily News quoted a counter-terrorism official, as saying.

He was earlier linked to the 9/11 attacks, to a plot to blow up Kennedy Airport and to a Pakistani neuroscientist arrested with notes on potential U.S. targets.

His 49-year-old mother Zuhrah Ahmed, says: "Maybe he was chosen by God to make people realize that Islam is a better way of life."

She adds that she hasn't heard from him in years.

His father was once a Muslim missionary assigned to the Al Farouq Mosque in Brooklyn, where worshipers were connected to two terror plots.

His dad also served as translator for blind Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman, mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center attack. (ANI)
