London, July 2 (ANI): A pal of Anna Chapman, believed to be a Russian spy, has revealed that she mingled with the A-listers of British society.
Chapman is one of 10 people accused by the US of spying for Russia.
She is believed to have networked her way up from waitressing at an exclusive club in London's Pall Mall seven years earlier after splitting from her British husband Alex.
The 28-year-old is said to have used Alex, 30, to enter the London social scene and rub shoulders with Britain's A-list business elite.
Chapman, who was held by the FBI after moving to New York, allegedly partied at exclusive Annabel's with private equity billionaire Vincent Tchenguiz, and TopShop owner Philip Green.
Wayne Sharpe, 53, executive chairman and founder of Bartercard, a trading exchange firm, said that he met her a number of times at social gatherings in 2005.
"She was well and truly in that set. It was always hard to determine what she did, but she was very attractive and articulate," the Mirror quoted Sharpe as saying.
"She constantly ingratiated herself with all the high-end businessmen she was introduced to," Sharpe as saying. (ANI)
