London, June 22 (ANI): A British man has spent two years converting his shed into a pirate ship by taking inspiration from the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movies.
Reg Miller, 65, from Southend, Essex, who named the shed Lady Sarah Out of Worthing after his wife, constructed it from bits of driftwood and knick-knacks bought from junk shops.
"I keep adding to it because people keep extra bits and pieces," the Sun quoted Miller, who is now a contender in the Shed of the Year 2010 competition, as saying.
"Someone has even given me a church pew, which provides seating round the side. My grandkids love it and my wife and I spend lots of time there. On nice evenings, we enjoy a rum or two on the palm-tree veranda.
"I have added more skulls and swords and there are hooks for a hammock. At the moment I am concentrating on planting palm trees, so it will look a bit like a tropical jungle,"
Miller even has his own parrot, Duffy, a South American gold and blue Macaw he has owned for 30 years.
The shed, which measures 16ft wide by eight foot deep, has a ship's mast, a number of skulls from dead animals, and even a dead man's chest containing real ashes.
Next to the main "hull" is an aviary containing cockatiels and budgies, and the cabin is packed with pirate memorabilia, from effigies of famous seafarers to imitation weapons and a Chinese pirate's hat. (ANI)
