A Q Khan accuses Govt., Army of harassing him

Islamabad , Sun, 13 Jun 2010 ANI

Islamabad, Jun.13 (ANI): Disgraced Pakistani nuclear scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan has accused both the government and military of harassing him unnecessarily by putting security restrictions on his movement.

Talking to media persons while on a visit to a local market here, Khan said that despite clear orders from the Lahore High Court that he was free to travel wherever he wants, the government was creating trouble for him.

He also threatened to move to the Supreme Court against government restrictions on his movement.

"If I do not get relief, then I will appeal to the Supreme Court of Pakistan. I am a public figure and people still love me," The Nation quoted Khan, as saying.

Khan, who is considered as the father of Pakistan's nuclear programme, laughed off the government's explanation regarding him being under threat.

"When I made missiles and bombs, I used to roam around the whole world, and if there wasn't a threat at that time, then why now," he asked.

Responding to questions over speculations regarding him joining former President General Pervez Musharraf's new political party, Khan said he has no knowledge about whether the former general was floating new political party. (ANI)
