Lahore, Apr.14 (ANI): Pakistan's Punjab province' Home Department has directed law enforcement agencies to step up vigilance on over 170 madrassas operating in the province after receiving intelligence reports regarding their involvement in 'suspicious' activities.
Following receiving the intelligence report, the federal investigation agency (FIA) has started a survey of these religious seminaries, The Daily Times reports.
A high-level meeting was also convened over the issue, which was attended by Punjab Home Secretary Nadeem Hassan Asif, and other top officials of the Criminal Investigation Department, Special Branch, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Intelligence Bureau and the Military Intelligence.
Sources privy to the meeting said, officials discussed the activities of madrassas especially in South Punjab's Bahawalpur division and directed officials to keep a check on them and remain vigilant. (ANI)
