Kuala Lumpur, Apr. 3 (ANI): Malaysian Indian Congress President S. Samy Vellu has said that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak has shown during his first year of leadership that he cares for the people.
"He has shown that he cares for the people by developing credible policies and procedures that will in turn benefit the people," The Star Online quoted Samy Vellu, as saying at Razak's one year anniversary as Prime Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, Malaysian Associated Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Maicci) president K. K. Eswaran said that the Indian business community was happy with the programmes started by Razak.
"The 1Malaysia policies have renewed our trust in the Government," he said, adding that he was confident that there will be more policies and programmes to bring the country to greater heights.
Minister in Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said Razak had generally done well in his first year as Prime Minister despite a tough and trying year.
"I am glad that 'People First' is being practised with the identification and implementation of the Government Transformation Programme (GTP), the National Key Result Areas (NKRAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)," he said.
"We are seeing some encouraging initial outcomes. Yet, a lot more needs to be done in the next one to two years," he said.
Meanwhile, Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that while it was too early to rate Razak's performance, he was doing a better job than his predecessor. (ANI)
