London, March 12 (ANI): A female sea cadet was surprised when the Duke of Edinburgh asked her if she worked at a strip club.rince Philip threw the question before Elizabeth Rendle, 24, as he and The Queen met cadets at Wyvern barracks in Exeter, Devon.
When Rendle was asked what she did for a living she answered she worked at a nightclub. Hearing this the Duke asked her: "Is it a strip club?"
Before a surprised Rendle could reply Prince Philip dismissed his query saying it was "probably too cold for that anyway".
Rendle, of Barnstaple in Devon, is a barmaid in a nightclub and an adult member of the Barnstaple Sea Cadets.
"He was asking everyone what they did for a living and when I told him he asked me if I worked in a strip club," the Telegraph quoted her, as saying.
Rendle went on: "I was quite surprised but I think he was just trying to lighten the mood. Obviously I told him I didn't work in a strip club.
"It was a joke and we were all laughing which drew everyone else's attention to us."
She added: "I don't think he put his foot in it, it was a joke and I didn't take any offence. I think he was just putting people at their ease."
The royal couple visited Wyvern barracks as a part of celebrations marking 150 years of the cadet movement. (ANI)
