Govt. should reframe its Kashmir strategy: PoK PM

Karachi, Sun, 07 Mar 2010 ANI

Karachi, Mar.7 (ANI): Criticising former President General Pervez Musharraf for damaging country's strategy regarding Kashmir, Pakistan occupied Kashmir's (PoK) Prime Minister Raja Mohammed Farooq Hyder Khan has said the government should 'reframe its policies' concerning the issue.

Interacting with the media on the sidelines of a function here, Khan said even after 63 years of independence of Pakistan, Kashmiri people are "still struggling for their right of self-determination."

Approving the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif's statement that Kashmir was the lifeline of Pakistan, he said the cause was harmed most during Musharraf's reign.

"The Kashmir cause was most harmed by Pervez Musharraf during his nine-year rule during which Kashmir policy was ignored and no effort was made to get UN resolutions implemented," The Nation quoted Khan, as saying.

Khan stressed that the situation in PoK has now changed and that the law and order situation in the region has improved drastically in the past years.

He said not stone will be left unturned for the development of the region.

Khan said during his Karachi visit next month he would meet the business leaders in the city and convince them to investment in the region, which has vast business opportunities in hydel power generation and tourism. (ANI)
