Johor Baru, Mar. 2 (ANI): Johor Mentri Besar Abdul Ghani Othman has said that his government is aware of the needs of the Malaysian Indian community; therefore it is allocating land for the building of Tamil schools and temples.

He added that Indian community's issues related to schools, temples or even burial areas should be settled through discussions.

"I have been meeting local MIC leaders and non-governmental organisations on problems faced by the community," The Star Online quoted him, as saying after he handed over 400,000 ringgits to Arulmigu Sri Raja Kaliamman Temple on Monday.

Ghani said the temple would get an annual grant of 30,000 ringgits from the state government.

Johor Human Resource, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman M. Asojan said the community was thankful to Ghani for all the help.

"The state gave us 2ha for the construction of a new Tamil school in Kangkar Pulai at a cost of RM19mil," he said.

"Once ready by the end of this year, the school would be able to accommodate about 1,000 students," he said, adding that about 40ha had been allocated for agriculture activities for young Indian entrepreneurs," he added. (ANI)
