Auckland jury retires from Indian-origin liquor store owner's trial

Auckland, Mar. 2 (ANI): An Auckland High Court jury has ended the second day's deliberations in Indian-origin south Auckland liquor store owner Navtej Singh's June 2008 murder without a verdict.

 

The jury that was adjourned just before 5pm was meant to ascertain whether seven people are guilty of various charges in connection with the June 2008 fatal shooting of Singh, Stuff.co.nz reports.

 

Singh, 30, was working at Riverton Liquor, in Manurewa, when he was felled by a single shot during the hold-up.

 

Six people have been accused of Singh's murder - Anitilea Chan Kee, Myron Felise, Tino Felise, Eti Filoa, Walter McCarthy and Jason Naseri. A seventh, Mefiposeta Chan-Kee, is charged with being an accessory after the killing.

 

Tino Felise, Filoa and McCarthy also face charges of aggravated robbery. Anitilea Chan-Kee, Myron Felise and Naseri have previously admitted charges of aggravated robbery.

 

Anitlea Chan-Kee has admitted shooting Singh but claims that he didn't know that the gun was loaded when he accidentally pulled the trigger. (ANI)
