London, Feb. 24 (ANI): Chancellor Alistair Darling has revealed how British Prime Minister Gordon Brown unleashed the "forces of hell" in order to bully him.
Darling claimed that Brown's spin-doctors knifed him in the back after he predicted the recession would be the worst for 60 years.
"The weekend after I'd done this interview the forces of hell were unleashed," The Sun quoted him, as saying.
Asked whether the briefings came from Downing Street, he replied: "Yes, and the Tories jumped on the bandwagon too. Nobody likes that sort of briefing that goes on, of course there were people saying things."
Darling's revelations have come in the wake of political commentator Andrew Rawnsley claiming that Brown pushed and shoved staff and regularly abused others.
Darling also revealed that he and Brown have had bitter fights.
"Gordon and I have some very robust exchanges. I can't imagine any healthy relationship between a Prime Minister and Chancellor where they don't have differences from time to time," he said.
Conservatives have slammed Brown for pretending to operate smoothly, while the whole system was mired in chaos.
"The idea that Gordon Brown runs a happy and united team has been blown apart. This is amazing confirmation from the Prime Minister's own Chancellor that he ordered his henchmen to brief against him," a Conservatives spokesman said.Meanwhile, the bullying row has been made into a cartoon.
A TV channel produced video game-style footage "reconstructing" Brown's alleged attacks on staff.
The computer-generated images in Taiwan show Brown ranting, pushing a secretary off her chair and punching a car seat. (ANI)
