Kuala Lumpur, Sun, 14 Feb 2010 ANI

Kuala Lumpur, Feb 14(ANI): A fully-fledged Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), mooted by the Indian Government in 2003, which offers an interesting range of cultural services is now up and running in Malaysia.

The centre was inaugurated by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) president Dr. Karan Singh and Malaysian Human Resources Minister Dr. S. Subramaniam, who is the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) vice-president, on Thursday.

The High Commissioner-designate of India to Malaysia, Vijay K. Gokhale, was also present at the inauguration function.

Dr. Karan said the establishment of the centre was an important initiative of the Indian Government, in keeping with the high priority it attached to its bilateral relations with Malaysia.

"It will give India's cultural presence in Malaysia a major fillip and constitute an important dimension of the friendly partnership between the two countries," The Star quoted Dr. Karan, as saying.

All events at the ICC are free of charge and open to the public. (ANI)
