Tue, 01 Jan 2008 ANI

Quetta, Sept 3 (ANI): Three persons accused of murdering a woman and two men were declared innocent after they walked on the fire. A local jirga headed by Bolan District Nazim Sardar Khan Rind acquitted them of the murder charge after their "trial".

The deceased and the accused were members of the Sundrani tribe, reported the Daily Times.

The accused had claimed that they had not murdered anyone and that the woman had committed suicide, but her family alleged that she had been murdered.

In order to prove their innocence before the tribal elders, the jirga asked the accused to walk across 10 feet of fire according to Baloch tradition. The accused walked the burning fire and also swore their innocence on the holy Quran.

Thousands of people witnessed the incident, added the paper. (ANI)
