Lahore, Feb.2 (ANI): Stressing on the need for resumption of stalled Indo-Pak bilateral talks on all outstanding issues, Pakistan Muslim League- Q (PML-Q) Secretary-General Mushahid Husain Syed has said both countries cannot afford a war.
Speaking at a seminar on 'Indo-Pak Relations in Changing Scenario" at the Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS), Punjab University, Syed said India cannot impose war on Pakistan like 1971.
"Neither India can impose war on Pakistan like it did in 1971 nor Pakistan has now any apprehensions of such a war or aggression from any quarter," he said.
"t the most, India could indulge in conspiracies to isolate Pakistan through diplomatic efforts, intervene in Pakistan's internal affairs by sponsoring acts of terrorism or subject it to water aggression by depriving it of its water share," Syed said.
Syed said peace and stability in the region was only possible by resolving the long pending Kashmir issue on the lines of UN resolutions.
He pointed out that the significance of Afghanistan and Pakistan had increased in the US priorities as compared to India, and added that the allied forces led by America have lost the war in Afghanistan, and were now looking for a safe passage."The US has lost war in Afghanistan and is desperately looking for any safe and honourable passage out of the morass. The passage for enduring peace and stability in Afghanistan pass through Pakistan," The Dawn quoted Syed, as saying. (ANI)
