Rawalpindi, Jan.22 (ANI): Handing over its military shopping list to the United States, Pakistan has urged America to provide modern weapons and technology so that it could take on the extremists in the tribal areas more effectively.
During his meeting with US Defence Secretary Robert Gates, Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar handed over a list of Islamabad's defence and military needs to the top American official.
Mukhtar termed the meeting as 'very constructive', and said that the US has been asked to stop discriminatory attitude towards Pakistan in acquiring civil nuclear technology and should treat it as its strategic partner.
Mukhtar said he apprised Gates with the negative impact of the continuous drone attacks in the tribal region along the Afghan border and urged him to stop the missile strikes
"The US delegation was told to stop India's interference in Balochistan through Afghanistan and also demanded immediate release of Coalition Support Fund (CPF)," The Nation quoted Mukhtar, as saying. (ANI)
