Karachi, Jan.14 (ANI): Hitting out at opponents for trying to destabilise the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) government, President Asif Ali Zardari has said that people trying to use the Army to pursue their nefarious objectives would not be allowed to undermine the institution of the armed forces for advancing their political agenda.
"Attempts by some individuals to advance their personal political ambitions cannot and should not be allowed to undermine the institution of the armed forces of Pakistan," The Dawn quoted Zardari, as saying.
"We must all guard against subversive elements masquerading as political activists," he added.
Interacting with a delegation of ANP's Sindh chapter here, Zardari stressed on the need of restoring peace in Karachi, and said that the offensive against the extremists would be brought to its logical end.
"The fight against militancy will be pursued to the logical conclusion and law and order will be restored all over the country, particularly in Karachi," Zardari was quoted by his spokesman Farhatullah Babar, as saying.
Expressing grief over the loss of lives and property in Karachi in the violence that erupted in the trade city following an attack on a Muharram procession, Zardari said it was to carry forward the process of reconciliation to ensure peace and security in the city. (ANI)
