London, January 12 (ANI): A vicar surprised everyone when he blessed the mobile phones and laptops of city workers in London, as part of a traditional back-to-work ceremony called "Plow Monday."
The Rev David Parrott recited a blessing prayer over the hi-tech gadgets in the 17th Century St Lawrence Jewry church.
He explained that the ceremony was in keeping with the 'Plow Monday' ceremony in which villagers gathered to bless a symbolic farming implement dragged to the church's door.
Since, the church is "nowhere near a field in the middle of London," the Rev chose to bless the phones and laptops instead.
He said it would the capital's citizens that "God's grace can reach them in many ways".
"It's the technology that is our daily working tool, and it's a technology we should bless," the Sun quoted him as saying.
He hoped the ceremony had made worship "lively and relevant to the people who work nearby in the financial district". (ANI)
