Karachi Police knew about attack on Muharram procession 10 days before, failed to act

Lahore, Jan.1 (ANI): The Karachi police had reportedly arrested the alleged mastermind of Monday's suicide attack, which targeted a Muharram procession, 10 days before the incident, but despite that it failed to prevent the deadly blast which killed over 40 people.

According to a private television channel, the mastermind, Sirajullah alias Zeeshan, was arrested on December 17, and during interrogation he had also told the police about the plans of attacking the procession.

Despite having such critical information, security officials failed to take proper preventive measures to avoid the ghastly incident.

Zeeshan is currently under the custody of Karachi police's special investigation unit. The agency has not presented him in any court so far, The Daily Times reports. (ANI)
