Islamabad, Dec 18(ANI): The Pakistan Foreign Office (FO) has said that it has not received any instructions or communication from the Law Ministry regarding reopening of the SGS reference against President Asif Ali Zardari in Switzerland.
A FO official said that the reopening of the SGS case was purely a legal matter and the FO had no role to play in it.
The official also said that the FO would act only as a post office and its job would be to communicate the decision of the Pakistan Government to the Swiss authorities, The Dawn reported.
The 11-year-old SGS corruption reference is the Swiss case involving defence deal kickbacks in which former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Asif Zardari and their agent Jens Schlegelmilch were alleged to have received 60 million dollars.
Earlier, the lone case against Zardari was withdrawn after the Pakistan Government withdrew its allegations against him.
The Swiss court had also restored Zardari's assets worth 60 million dollars in a Swiss bank after dismissing the case against him. (ANI)
