London, Dec 17 (ANI): A two-year-old Brazilian boy has 50 sewing needles stuck inside his body, says his doctor.
According to Dr. Luiz Cesar Soltoski, some of these needles are 2 inches long and they hope to remove most of them.
However, doctors will have to wait for his breathing to get normal before extracting those needles that are nested in his lungs.
Dr Soltoski pointed out that some needles, which are close his vitals organs, cannot be removed.
Doctors from a hospital in the city of Ibotirama found the needles in the toddler's body after X-rays were done to find the cause of his pain. The baby, whose name was not revealed due to his age, was then shifted to a larger hospital in Barreiras.
His mum, a maid, told the police she had no idea how the baby had needles inside him.
Cops are treating the case as an attempted homicide and are looking for the little boy's stepfather, who has disappeared. We think it could have only been by penetration because we found needles in the lung, the left leg and in different parts of the thorax. It couldn't have been by ingestion," the Telegraph quoted Dr Soltoski, as saying.
No wounds marks were found on the boy's body.
The child is now in intensive care, although Dr Soltoski says he has shown some improvement after being admitted. (ANI)
