Islamabad, Dec. 15 (ANI): Former Pakistan Attorney General Malik Qayyum has told the Supreme Court that former President General Pervez Musharraf had asked the concerned authorities in Switzerland to withdraw cases against the NRO beneficiaries.
During a hearing into petitions against the legality of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), the apex court also asked Attorney-General, Shah Khawar to name the individual who authorised the withdrawal of the Swiss cases.
The 17 member Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that the individual found responsible for the withdrawal of cases will be sent to jail or will have to incur a fine of rupees two billion spent on the cases.
Meanwhile, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has also provided details of the Swiss account holders in the Supreme Court.
According to the details President Asif Ali Zardari has accounts in seven banks amounting to 59 million rupees. The list also includes the names of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Jehangir Ebadi and Nusrat Bhutto, The Dawn reports.
The apex court has also directed the federal government's Attorney General Shah Khawar to file a written clarification regarding his statement that the General Headquarters and the CIA pose a threat to the Presidency and the civilian regime.(ANI)
