Kuala Lumpur, Dec 10 (ANI): An imam in Malaysia is said to have been remanded by the police for four days after he was accused of molesting a 22-year-old man while performing a traditional massage on him.
According to Berita Harian, sources revealed that the victim from Kuala Lumpur had visited the imam for treatment of a disease he was suffering from, reports the Star Online.
After arriving at the Pulau Sebang bus station near Tampin, the victim was taken to a hotel and told to strip for the massage.
The man claimed that the imam started massaging his body but then groped his chest, kissed him on the lips and held his private parts.
Startled by the unusual "practice", the victim immediately put on his clothes and left the hotel room before lodging a police report.
The sources revealed that the imam, who was posted at a mosque in the district, had been suspected of sexually harassing children who was attending his Quran classes, but these cases were settled with the families with no police reports made.
Tampin district deputy police chief Dept Supt Mohd Isa Ujang confirmed the imam's remand and said investigations would be carried out under Section 377D of the Penal Code for gross indecency, which was punishable by a jail term of up to two years. (ANI)
