Brits spend more than one year of their lives in pubs!

London, Tue, 08 Dec 2009 ANI

London, Dec 8 (ANI): A survey has found that Brits spend more than a year of their lives in a pub.

The research showed that pub goers spent 9,370 hours, and rack up a 65,249-pound bill, which includes crisps, nuts and other pub grub.

A typical drinker pops in 3,550 times, spending 10.88 pounds per visit on booze.

A total of 5,403 alcoholic drinks are gulped and 1,775 snacks munched.

While men spend most time in the pub during their lives, an average of 441 days, women are also fast catching up by putting in 340 days.

"Pubs are irreplaceable social hubs," the Sun quoted Jon Howard, of the Campaign for Real Ale, as saying.

"It is a massive problem so many are shutting every week," he said.

The findings had emerged in a survey for UKTV channel Blighty as part of its Save Our Boozer series.

"Pubs have always been a part of my life and I love them. They represent community spirit," EastEnders legend Anita Dobson, ex-landlady of the Queen Vic, added. (ANI)
