US can do 'whatever it pleases' as it is paying money to Pak : Baloch governor

Quetta, Sun, 06 Dec 2009 ANI

Quetta, Dec.6 (ANI): Balochistan Governor Zulfiqar Magsi has said Pakistan has no right to criticise the US for the drone strikes along the lawless Afghanistan-Pakistan border, and added that Washington can do 'whatever it pleases' as it is paying huge money to the country.

"You cannot oppose someone who pays you money. The US is paying money to Pakistan. How can we oppose it? It will do whatever it pleases," Magsi told reporters here.

Commenting on the wide spread insurgency in the province, Magsi said extremism is no longer a Balochistan-specific issue, as the whole country is facing a deteriorating law and order situation.

Responding to a question about the new reforms package announced by the government, he said the package was nothing, but 'charity'.

Magsi said the package was unlikely to address the actual grievances of the people of Balochistan, and stressed that the issue would not be resolved until provincial autonomy s granted to Balochistan.

"Balochistan has never asked the federal government to provide it with a package. A package is viewed by the people of the province as charity given to them, which is not a solution to their problems. Balochistan's problem is related to provincial autonomy and control over natural resources," The Daily Times quoted Magsi, as saying. (ANI)
