Washington, Dec 1 (ANI): Friends of the Clinton family have lavishly showered praise on Chelsea Clinton and her hubby-to-be Marc Mezvinsky, after the only child of former US President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary announced her engagement.
Chelsea, 29, and Marc, 31, an investment banker and son of former Rep. Ed Mezvinsky (D-Iowa) and former Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinksy (D-Pa.), having been dating since four years.
The pair was pals in Washington, D.C., and came closer when they both went to Stanford University.
Mezvinsky is "not a pretentious guy. They have a wonderful relationship. Chelsea has been in the limelight all of her life. In 2008, on the campaign trail, I remember her talking to 200 law students asking her the most complicated and ridiculous questions, and she handled them like a pro," the Politico quoted John Coale, a family friend, who campaigned for Clinton's 2008 presidential run, as saying.
Howard Wolfson, longtime Clinton campaign spokesman, believes Chelsea is capable of coping up with any additional public pressure during her engagement.
He said: "One of the things that people appreciate most about the Clintons is that they have kept Chelsea off limits to the press for so long.... She has kept out of politics except when she campaigned for her mom."
Dee Dee Meyers, another close family friend, added: "She was always an incredibly gracious and a sweet kid. She reminds me a lot of John Kennedy Jr. in the way that she found herself in the spotlight, but maintained her privacy and never complained about it." (ANI)
