Pak surprised at Brown's "do more" to nab Osama bashing

Islamabad, Mon, 30 Nov 2009 ANI

Islamabad, Nov. 30 (ANI): Pakistan has expressed surprise over British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's demand to "do more" to nab Osama Bin Laden.

The foreign office spokesman, Abdul Basit, said that those issuing statements regarding the whereabouts of Osama Bin Ladin ought to share the information with Pakistan if they possessed it, The News reports.

Earlier, Brown has slammed Pakistan for not being able to capture Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden and putting British lives at risk.

"We want, after eight years, to see more progress in taking out these top two people in al-Qaeda who have done so much damage and are clearly behind many of the operations in Great Britain," Brown had said at the Commonwealth summit in Trinidad.

Replying to that, Basit said Pakistan has either killed or arrested as many as 700 members of Al-Qaeda during last seven years, and none must doubt Pakistan efforts to curb terrorism.

"No body knows the whereabouts of Osama Bin Ladin and if any one knows, he ought to inform Pakistan at government level," he said. (ANI)
