New Delhi, November 27 (ANI): People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are trying to make vegetarianism sexy in China.

The group has roped in sultry Taiwanese actress and singer Barbie Hsu to promote vegetarianism in the country.

The hottie is set to feature in series of adverts in fashion magazines and websites in the Chinese mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong in the coming weeks.

Already, a poster of Hsu, emphasizing on the benefits of giving up meat, has surfaced in China, reports the China Daily.

It shows her holding a little yellow chick up to her face above the slogan "vegetarians make chicks happy," which in Chinese literally translates to "Love her, love vegetarianism."

Hsu said: "My health has improved a lot since I became a vegetarian. I want to tell this good news to all of my friends, to tell them the advantages ... so this campaign is perfect for me."

Also, PETA Asia added in a statement: "Healthy vegetarian diets support a lifetime of good health and protect against heart disease, cancer and strokes. A vegetarian diet is also the easiest way to stay slim and sexy,"

The activists anticipate Hsu, who starred in soap opera 'Meteor Garden,' will influence the youngsters in China. (ANI)
