Lahore, Nov. 2 (ANI): Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer has reassured newly elected prime minister of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Raja Farooq Haider Khan, that Pakistan will continue to support the freedom struggle of the Kashmiris.
The Daily Times quoted Taseer as saying that people of Pakistan were praying for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute so that Kashmiris could lead honourable and peaceful lives.
The Punjab governor also pointed out that there were vast opportunities in PoK, and small powerhouses could be built at natural waterfalls located in the region.
Khan informed Taseer that the construction of more then 60 small powerhouses in POK had begun and the feasibility reports for most of them had been completed.
Taseer said that the Kashmir Bank should set up its branches in Pakistan and in other countries in collaboration with leading Pakistani and foreign banks.
The government should also establish a state-owned insurance company to protect foreign investment, he added.
Khan thanked the Pakistan government for highlighting the Kashmir issue at every international forum. (ANI)
