Melbourne, Mon, 26 Oct 2009 ANI

Melbourne, Oct 26(ANI): A 22-year-old Indian man was reportedly punched in the head and had his turban removed while he was sleeping at a bus stop in Epping, Melbourne on Sunday.

The man was asleep at a stop near Epping railway station at about 12.45am when a bus pulled into the depot and five males, believed to be in the age group between 17 and 19, approached him.

Two of the five youths allegedly bashed him, while their three companions are believed to have tried to stop the assault, The Age reports.

The unprovoked bashing left the victim with minor injuries to his mouth.

Meanwhile, the police said that all the five youths ran away from the scene. They are also investigating the matter and have appealed for witnesses.

This is not the first time that an assault has been reported from Epping. Earlier, four Indian men were alleged bashed outside a hotel in the same locality. (ANI)
