Jakarta, Oct 24(ANI): Several parts of Indonesia were jolted on Saturday by a strong earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale.
No damage to life has been reported so far. However, taking preventive measures to avoid any untoward incident, the Indonesian Government issued a tsunami alert to its citizens.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was centered in the Banda Sea, which is around 222 kilometers northwest of Saumlaki in Indonesia's Tanimbar Islands.
On Friday, a quake measuring 6 on Richter scale had struck Indonesia's Papua province on the island of New Guinea, while a 7.6-magnitude quake had struck the Sumatra Island on September 30.
More than 1,150 people have lost their lives due to earthquakes in Indonesia over the past one-month. (ANI)
