US Senator gives PML-N leader an earful over KL bill apprehensions

Islamabad, Thu, 22 Oct 2009 ANI

Islamabad, Oct.22 (ANI): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Zafar Ali Shah was in the firing line of the Republican Congressman Frank Wolf when the former went to meet him in his Capitol Hill chamber.

Wolf gave Shah an earful when the latter tried to express his party's concerns over the controversial Kerry-Lugar Bill.

"I know why are you here, if you don't like the bill don't take the money," an angry Wolf told Shah.

"It's your ISI and government who were supporting the Taliban," Wolf added.

Despite receiving such harsh comments from the US Senator, Shah continued to pacify him without any success.

During the first few minutes Shah was shocked and confused by receiving such an unexpected response, but shot back at Wolf saying he is not the right person to enquire about the ISI's role, The News reported "Don't ask me anything about the ISI or the government. I represent the people of Pakistan. And in fact it was the US government which kept on supporting the ISI," Shah said.

Later, talking to media persons Shah said Wolf's reaction was illogical and it was unexpected.

"He was only expressing his anger but when I confronted him he was kind, soft and apologetic," he added. (ANI)
