Islamabad, Oct 19 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani's sudden visit to former cricketer turned politician Imran Khan's Bani Gala residence on the bank of picturesque Rawal Lake is being seen as an important political event.
People belonging to all shades of life were invited except President Asif Ali Zardari. Khan sarcastically said on the podium that he deliberately avoided inviting Zardari because of the enormous security involved.
Had he (the president) been invited and something happened to him, he (Imran) would have been the prime suspect in the case, he remarked.
Discarding the advice of the security personnel, Gilani decided to attend the launching ceremony of the Namal Knowledge City, The News reported.
Imran Khan and his sisters received the Prime Minister. The people who are assisting Khan in establishing educational and health institutions and his admirers from various parts of the country were present in large numbers.
The event started with a video on a large screen with jubilant Imran Khan receiving the World Cup trophy that he won for Pakistan. The documentary also showed achievements of Khan in the fields of health and education.
Former federal minister Razzaq Dawood gave a detailed account of Imran Khan's efforts in the two fields.
Khan, in his brief address, welcomed Gilani and said that he is determined to provide world-class education to the people of this backward area where no female teacher or nurse was ready to work. (ANI)
