Traditional ‘Kangris’ in high demand as cold intensifies
Poonch (J&K), Jan 20 (ANI): As intense cold and snowfall continues to hit Jammu and Kashmir, Poonch district witnessed a rise in the demand for traditional fire pots, popularly known as ‘Kangris’. The Kangri, a small earthenware bowl encased in a wicker basket, is filled with embers and carried by locals under their flowing woolen gowns known as pherans to fight the chill. But the device is a fire hazard, causing scores of injuries every winter, and doctors say prolonged use causes skin diseases.
