Threats force exodus of northeast people from across India

Guwahati /Bangalore/ Visakhapatnam/ Vadodara, Aug 18 (ANI): Thousands of fear stricken people, hailing from northeast fled from various cities across India, as panic grew of a backlash over violence against Muslims in Assam. Special train from Bangalore, carrying residents of north east, today arrived in Guwahati after the rumours had spread across the IT city through messages and mails that they could face attacks as a reaction to riots in Assam. The natives from northeast said that they fled as they were being threatened with dire consequences, whipping up fear psychosis. Meanwhile, cops in Bangalore were seen patrolling during night hours and barricades were put in place.
