Para-athletes protest suspension of Paralympic Committee of India
New Delhi, April 18 (ANI): Members of various organizations working for people with special abilities held demonstrations in New Delhi on Saturday (April 18), protesting against the suspension of Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) by the world body. The International Paralympic Committee suspended PCI on April 15 for an indefinite period over fighting within members of the body. With the suspension, Indian para-athletes will not be able to take part in any IPC-sanctioned events, including the India Open Para Games to be held in New Delhi from May 2-9. It was the first international para event to be hosted in the country, but is likely to be cancelled now. Protesters including para athletes and their supporters shouted slogans against PCI at the protest site, Jantar Mantar.
