Kerry defends NSA's controversial spying program, calls Snowden an indicted felon

New Delhi, June 24 (ANI): US Secretary of State John Kerry on Monday defended the National Security Agency's controversial spying program, saying it has avoided terrorist acts and saved lives. Kerry added that all major countries have been warned against the travel plans of fugitive former U.S. spy agency contractor Edward Snowden. Kerry was speaking at a joint press conference with the Indian foreign minister, Salman Khurshid on the sidelines of the fourth annual Strategic Dialogue between both countries in New Delhi. Kerry also said that U.S. sees cuts in India's Iran oil imports as 'important step', which would reduce its dependency on Iranian oil. Talking about Afganistan, after a spat over a new Taliban office in Qatar threatened to derail peace negotiations, Kerry said that conditions for talks with the Taliban in Afghanistan had not been met yet. The meet was co-chaired by India's External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, who said that India and United States are expanding their bilateral cooperation to new horizons.
