Jhargram Brahmin enshrines idol of Hindu deity alongside Sufi Shrine
Jhargram (WB), Jul 02 (ANI): The dawn breaks and with the bellow of Conch shell, Narayan Chandra starts Aarti of Goddess Kali in his small room where Muslims have also gathered to seek blessings of Hindu Goddess and pay Namaz at the shrine of their beloved saint emplaced by side of Hindu goddess and a marble ‘Shivalinga’ next to it. For last 25 years, residence of Narayan is famous in his neighbour as a religious centre of harmony. Throughout the day a number of visitors visit this shrine. Narayan Chandra is well-versed in rituals of Hinduism and Islam. He performs all his duties like any other ‘Imam’ or a Pundit of a temple. It was surprising joyful to see Hindu women paying Namaz at the shrine of ‘Fakir Baba’. Mutual respect for diverse faiths, ethics and cultures reside deep inside Indian’s like Narayana. They not only uphold the unity but also foster a feeling of oneness among the people of our country.
